Old polycarbonate conservatory roofs leak heat in winter and overheat in summer. The modern fix is a lightweight insulated tiled roof system — drops the U-value from around 3.0 down to 0.18 and turns a half-usable room into a proper extra room you can heat and cool sensibly.

We design and build a bespoke insulated roof system for your conservatory — lightweight enough to drop straight onto the existing frame without structural reinforcement. Inside, you get a vaulted plastered ceiling included as standard, so the finish matches the rest of the house rather than looking like a converted shed.

Every quote starts with a free survey — including a drone inspection of the existing roof and a thermal-imaging check to pinpoint any condensation or damp before we design the new one.

Most projects take 3-5 days.

It also fixes the two complaints we hear most about old conservatories: streaming condensation on cold mornings, and a room that's unusable for half the year. A warm, insulated roof keeps surface temperatures up so condensation stops forming, and the room holds its heat — most customers end up using a space that used to sit empty from October to March.

The result is the conservatory you were promised in the first place: bright, warm in winter, shaded in summer, and quiet even under heavy rain. It adds real value too — a tired, unusable conservatory can put buyers off, whereas a proper insulated garden room reads as a genuine extra reception room.

We're a Trading Standards 'Buy With Confidence' approved contractor, and every conservatory roof we fit is backed by our 10-year guarantee. We've re-roofed conservatories right across Mansfield, Ashfield and the wider East Midlands — on Victorian, Edwardian, lean-to and gable-end frames alike.

FAQs

Common questions

Will my conservatory frame support a tiled roof?
In the majority of cases yes — modern tiled systems are deliberately lightweight (similar weight to glass). We survey the frame before quoting and tell you if reinforcement is needed.
Will I lose all the light?
Hardly any — and it genuinely surprises people. Once the new ceiling is plastered and painted white it reflects light beautifully, and you've still got all the windows around the conservatory pouring daylight in — so in most cases it makes little to no difference to how bright the room feels. It's a hard one to picture, so we're happy to show you photos of finished jobs. And where you want extra daylight, we fit Velux rooflights into the new roof.
Do I need planning permission?
Replacement of an existing conservatory roof is normally permitted development and doesn't need planning.
How much does it cost?
Depends on the conservatory size and which roof system you choose, but typical projects in our area land between £6,500 and £12,000 including the plastered interior ceiling.
How long does the work take?
Most conservatory roof replacements take 3-5 days on site, weather depending. We agree the dates up front and keep disruption to a minimum — the room is usually back in use within a week.
Will it stop the condensation and damp?
In almost every case, yes. Condensation forms when warm indoor air hits a cold roof surface; an insulated roof keeps that surface warm, so it stops forming — which also clears the damp and black-spotting it causes.
Will the room be warm enough to use in winter?
That's the whole point of the upgrade. Dropping the roof U-value from around 3.0 to 0.18 means the heat you put in stays in. With a radiator or underfloor heating already in the room, most customers use it comfortably all year for the first time.
What guarantee do you give?
Every conservatory roof we install is covered by our 10-year guarantee, on top of the manufacturer warranties for the insulation and tiles — plus the reassurance of our Trading Standards 'Buy With Confidence' approval.
